Namaste, dear friends and dedicated professionals,
In today’s busy world, it can be hard to keep your work life balanced and meaningful. In the middle of deadlines, pressure, and everyday demands, it's important to take a moment to reflect on the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita, which has guided people for thousands of years.
Today, I want to share five strong and meaningful verses from this sacred book that can help and inspire working professionals to find true success in life.
On Performing Your Duty (Chapter 2, Verse 47)
"कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन।"
Translation: Your right is only to perform your prescribed duties, but you are not entitled to the fruits of your actions.
This verse teaches us to give our best effort without worrying too much about the results. When we let go of expectations and stay focused on doing our duties sincerely, we stay motivated, calm, and strong—even when things don’t go as planned.
On Resilience (Chapter 2, Verse 14)
Translation: O son of Kunti, sensations like happiness and distress, arising from contact of the senses with their objects, are fleeting. Therefore, learn to endure them patiently.
This meaningful lesson reminds working people to stay strong and calm during the highs and lows that come with their careers.
On Discipline and Mastery (Chapter 6, Verse 5)
Translation: Elevate yourself through your own efforts and do not degrade yourself. The mind can be one's friend and also one's enemy.
Self-discipline and self-mastery are keys to professional excellence. This verse encourages us to use our mind in a positive way to help us grow in both our personal and work life.
On Ethical Leadership (Chapter 3, Verse 21)
Translation: Whatever actions a great person performs, others follow. Whatever standards they set, the world pursues.
Leaders help build the culture of a company. When they act with honesty and strong values, they set a good example for their teams, leading to a positive, respectful, and motivating workplace.
On Mindful Action (Chapter 4, Verse 18)
Translation: One who sees inaction in action and action in inaction is wise among humans.
Such a person is in harmony and handles all responsibilities properly.
Staying mindful means keeping a calm and steady mind, even while being busy. When professionals practice this, they often feel more focused, creative, and productive.
I encourage you all to take a moment to think about these timeless teachings from the Bhagavad Gita. Let their deep wisdom guide you in your work, helping you act with purpose and find true satisfaction.
Warm regards,
Shailendra Bhartti.
