Namaste, dear readers and seekers of truth,
In today’s fast-moving world, we often look for peace, clear thinking, and timeless wisdom to help us deal with life’s challenges. In my own journey with music, faith, and thinking deeply about life, I always find myself coming back to the timeless wisdom of Sant Kabir’s dohas.
Kabir was more than just a poet or saint. He was a fearless truth-seeker, a changemaker who questioned false beliefs, and a clear voice in a world full of noise. Even though he wrote his verses long ago, they still make sense today. His words are clear and powerful, breaking through pride and lies, and sharing deep wisdom in simple, everyday language.
Today, I want to share some of Kabir's timeless wisdom and talk about how we can use it in our daily work and personal life.
"Bura jo dekhan main chala, bura na milya koi Jo mann khoja aapna, mujhse bura na koi."
Explanation: I went in search of evil, but found none; when I looked within myself, I found none worse than me.
This doha reminds us to stop pointing fingers at others and start working on our own actions. Whether at work or home, it’s easy to find faults in others. But real change happens when we become aware of our own actions and take responsibility.
"Dheere dheere re mana, dheere sab kuch hoye Maali seenche sau ghara, ritu aaye phal hoye."
Explanation: Slowly, slowly, O mind, everything happens at its own pace. A gardener may water the plant daily, but fruit will come only when the time is correct.
In today’s fast-paced world, Kabir reminds us to be patient. Whether we’re working on our career, growing our relationships, or walking a spiritual path – the best things in life take time.
"Kaal kare so aaj kar, aaj kare so ab Pal mein parlay hoyegi, bahuri karoge kab?"
Explanation: What you plan to do tomorrow, do it today; what you plan for today, do it now. Trouble can come anytime - so why wait to do what’s important?
This famous doha by Kabir reminds us not to delay what needs to be done. Delaying things only wastes our time and drains our energy. Kabir tells us to stay present and do what needs to be done.
This beautiful verse also reminds us to let go of ego and look within. Whether you're a professional, an artist, or a leader—when we stop focusing only on ourselves, we make space for something greater to guide us.
Friends, Kabir’s teachings aren’t just for reading in old books. They’re meant to be practiced, questioned, and felt in our daily lives. His words offer honesty and strength, especially in today’s fast-paced world.
Let’s bring his wisdom into our everyday lives—to keep us steady, focused, and truly awake.
With warmth and devotion,
Shailendra Bhartti.
